We studied it in year 7 English and then two years later in 1989, the film Dead Poets Society came out at the cinema. I saw that film with my mother and to this day it is the only film I have ever seen with my mother. I have never forgotten the powerful effect both the poem and the film had on me and I always longed for an english professor like the inspirational character of John Keating. Looking back now at my secondary and tertiary education - you Barry Carozzi were the closest I ever came. You were my inspiration for returning to tafe after I'd left to have my daughter Chilli and you were (and still are) my inspiration for wanting to be a better writer. I remember being devastated when I didn't get in to the Prof Writing and Editing course at RIMT. NMIT was my second option but its funny how things work out, and in the end I was grateful for the NMIT experience because it gave me you. And now, here we are Baz, all these years later, only now we are no longer teacher and student, but friends and fellow bloggers, seizing the day in cyber space. x MishMisha Simhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12301127607118654367noreply@blogger.com
